PLANS to transform a landmark former village pub site into a housing development have provoked a storm of opposition from residents.

Proposals have been drawn up to convert the vacant Headless Woman pub in Duddon into new homes.

Four detached properties and four low-cost homes available to rent – provided by Chester and District Housing Trust – could also be built on the Tarporley Road site.

The Headless Woman, which was formerly owned by Punch Taverns, closed in June.

Chester-based developers McClements and McClements are behind the plans to transform the site, which they presented to residents during last week’s Duddon Parish Council meeting.
