Upton community ‘pulled together’ at a Christmas Cracker and fair event at Upton United Reformed Church.

Businesses, organisations and church groups showed their creative and artistic talents, each making a cracker to represent their activity.

With 40 crackers on display it proved to be a colourful and fun idea for everyone to come together.

Donations and sales raised £218.60 for Barnardo’s and shop manager Debbie Porritt said: “We’re delighted to take part and raise extra funds for the charity as well as meet local people.

Reverend Ruth Wilson added: “The cracker event was a wonderful start to the our Christmas celebration and a good way for the church to support the local community and those in need.”
