With Oscar season upon us, University of Chester students have organised their own Academy Awards-themed glitz and glam evening, to raise money for a local charity.

The event has been organised by Finesse Events, a student-run events company and the team hopes to raise over £200 for Hope House Children’s Hospice, which currently cares for over 720 families from across Cheshire, North and Mid Wales and Shropshire.

Taking place at the Commercial Bar and Hotel, Chester, on Thursday, February 4, the evening includes drinks on arrival, live entertainment and movie sketches shown throughout the night.

Entertainment will be from The University of Chester Folk Society, Melanie Lindsey accompanied by Charles Archer and Joel Kirk, Luke James, Rebecca Timmins and The University of Chester Orchestral Society.

Team leader of the Finesse Events Holly Jevons said “We are very excited to have been given this opportunity to help Hope House Children’s Hospices. As a team we have worked really hard to make this event the best it can possibly be.

“Hope House relies almost entirely on voluntary donations in order to continue its valuable work. This year alone they need to find a staggering £5 million to keep the doors to their two hospices open and to continue their work caring for children and families within the local community.

“All of the proceeds will be going to a very worthy cause and we appreciate all of the support that we receive.”

Area fundraiser for Hope House Children’s Hospice Nicola Sciarrillo said “We are thrilled that Finesse Events are organising such a wonderful event. We would like to thank them for raising money for the children and families cared for and supported locally by Hope House Children’s Hospices.

“They have shown a great deal of professionalism throughout the organisation of this event and the money raised will enable us to continue the invaluable work that our outreach nurses offer within the local community. Hope House proudly celebrates its 21st birthday this year and A Night at the Oscars is a great way to celebrate this special birthday”

The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased via the Finesse Events website, http://finesseevents2016.wix.com/anightattheoscars , or directly from the Hope House charity shop, 52/54 Frodsham Street, Chester or from New Look, 79-81 Foregate St, Chester.
