POLICE are trying to trace two women who helped a man to his feet after he had been punched in Chester city centre.

The 37-year-old man was attacked on Saturday, December 13 at approximately 2am and police believe the women who helped him may have vital information.

Cheshire Police spokesperson Rachel Hayes said: “The man was waiting for a lift home close to Currys on Foregate Street. While standing there he was punched in the face, which knocked him to the floor. It's believed he was helped up by two women.

“There is no description of the offender because the victim had his hood up as it was raining and the punch came in from the side.

“As a consequence of the punch the man, who is from the Wallasey area, sustained a fractured cheek bone in three places which required surgery to correct it.”

A particular appeal is made to the women who helped the man to his feet, as well as anyone who may have information, to contact investigating officer DC Stuart Thomas on 01244 613150. Alternatively information can be given anonymously on the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
