Two fires which broke out at the old greyhound stadium in Ellesmere Port within a 24 hour period are thought to have been started deliberately.

A blaze underneath one of the stands at the Thornton Road stadium was reported to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 4pm on Tuesday (April 12).

But crews were also called out in the early hours of the morning to tackle a fire on the first floor and roof space of one of the other derelict buildings on the site.

A service spokesperson said: "Both these fires are believed to have been started deliberately.

"Please, if anyone has any information about either of the incidents call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 602 of April 12."
