Two thugs were sentenced to a total of 11 years behind bars after a vicious assault in a hotel toilet.
Marvin Grugel, of High Street, Saltney, and Kelvin Bailey, of Circular Drive, Lache in Chester, attacked Duncan Nimmo at the Saltney Ferry Hotel on Boxing Day 2012.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard Mr Nimmo was involved in the supply of class A drugs with Bailey, who asked for money off him earlier in the evening.
When he refused, Bailey enlisted the help of Grugel to attack Mr Nimmo when he went to the toilet.
Mr Nimmo was left with a fractured right eye socket and broken cheek bone.
The pair both denied the assault but were found guilty at trial.
Bailey, 34, was sentenced to six years behind bars for instigating the attack.
Father of two Grugel, 32, was sentenced to five years.
Sentencing them at Caernarfon Crown Court today, Judge Merfyn Hughes QC said: “On the evening of the 26th of December 2012, Duncan Nimmo was at the Saltney Ferry Hotel.
“You, Bailey, demanded money from him due to his involvement in the supply of class A drugs.
“He refused and you decided to attack him.
“Enlisting the help of Mr Grugel, the pair of you followed him into the toilet, struck him to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched him, causing serious injury.”
Judge Hughes QC added: “Kelvin Bailey, the attack was because of his (Mr Nimmo’s) previous role in your drug operation.
“Marvin Grugel, what you did was to join in support of your friend Kelvin Bailey.
“There was the use of a weapon alternative, in this case, a shod foot.”
As Grugel and Bailey were sent down to the cells there was shouts of “I love you” from family members in the public gallery.
Mark Le Brocq, defending Bailey, said the assault had not been sustained and had occurred over less than a minute.
Oliver King, defending Grugel said his client suffered from anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Mr King said: “Through no fault of my clients the trial was delayed four times.”
Grugel has a previous conviction of actual bodily harm.
