TWO men were arrested following a fight that broke out in a Chester nightclub.

Police were called to a disturbance in RB's nightclub in Chester at around 1.30am on Sunday (June 19).

A 40-year-old woman from Manchester was struck to the back of her head which resulted in her receiving treatment at the Countess of Chester Hospital for a head wound. She was later released from hospital.

Two men from Liverpool, aged 22 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of assault and following interview by detectives were released on bail until August 11 pending further investigation into the incident.

Sergeant Andy Pickup said: “We are committed to reducing instances of serious assault such as this.

“Chester Inner Neighbourhood Policing Team have achieved a significant decrease in violent crime in recent months.

“This is achieved by effective policing and close liaison with licencees to encourage responsible behaviour when enjoying a night out in the city. We would encourage anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward and help bring to justice those who threaten the safety of others in this way.”
