TV STARS Chris Tarrant and Nick Hancock were among the famous faces who took part in The Lord’s Taverners Diamond Jubilee celebrity crickret match at Cholmondeley Castle.

Mr Tarrant, host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, is a former president of the national Lord’s Taverners while They Think It’s All Over presenter Nick Hancock is president of the North West Lord’s Taverners.

This was the sixth annual celebrity cricket match to be organised by Mark Fearnall of the North West Lord’s Taverners.

Mr Fearnall said: “Nick and Shari hancock continue to throw their enthusiasm and influence behind this event.

“Arthur Jones and his team at Cholmondeley Cricket Club had the pitch in perfect condition.

“We are also extremely grateful to all our sponsors - Baker Tilly, Cazenove ITC Sports and DTM Legal. Without their generous input, the cricket could not have taken place.”

The auction was conducted by Adam Partridge from the BBC TV series Flog It!.

Children and staff from St Christopher’s School in Wrexham came along with their new minibuses which had been donated by the Lord’s Taverners.

The Taverners were formed in the Tavern at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London 60 years ago by a group of actors.
