ALMOST £3,000 was raised for the British Red Cross at a charity dinner organised by the Chester Business Club.

Sponsored by Hill Dickinson, almost 200 people attended the sell out evening at the Queen Hotel in Chester.

The guest speaker was BBC newsreader and presenter Angela Rippon, a vice-president of British Red Cross, who spoke about a wide range of topics including her 45 years in television and radio and the important work carried out by the Red Cross.

Chester Business Club secretary Bob Clough-Parker said: “The whole evening was a great success.

“Angela Rippon was a great speaker and gave a fascinating and entertaining talk about her life in front of the camera and the microphone.”

Robin Jones, head of Hill Dickinson’s Chester office, said: “We were delighted to be the sponsor for the Business Club’s dinner. In addition to the opportunity of supporting Red Cross, the event provided us with the opportunity to engage with the regional business community and to promote Hill Dickinson’s broad range of legal expertise to the local commercial sector.”

Chester Business Club, whose aims are to promote trade, commerce and tourism in the Chester area, celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012 and plans are already in hand to mark its celebratory year through a series of dinners and charity supporting events.
