Travellers have descended on Whitby Park in Ellesmere Port .

A convoy comprising one caravan, one motor-home and associated vehicles have set up camp in the car park, a short distance from land at Stoke Gardens off McGarva Way where they had an encampment on Monday (July 25).

Cheshire West and Chester Council served a legal notice on Tuesday morning (July 26), giving the Travellers 24 hours to move on from the site.

Cllr Angela Claydon, cabinet member for housing, said: “Officers from the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team have visited an encampment at Whitby Park in Ellesmere Port today.

"A legal notice to leave the site was delivered giving the encampment 24 hours to leave the site."
