TRAVELLERS have set up camp on the car park at Chester FC’s Exacta Stadium.
A total of eight caravans arrived at the Blues’ home ground in Bumpers Lane at about 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday, February 15).
Officers from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC), which owns the stadium and car park, will go to the ground today to start the process of evicting the convoy.
The Chronicle understands the Travellers are French and passing through Chester with the intention of leaving tomorrow or Saturday.
A CWaC spokeswoman said: “We’re going down to the site today with the police to inform them they have no right to occupy the land.”
She added the council should be in a position this afternoon to confirm a timescale for their eviction.
