ANGRY shoppers have blasted the borough council for not installing any toilets inside the town centre's new-look Market Hall.

Customers are even considering setting up a petition demanding toilet facilities be installed.

However, the borough council says there are no plans to do so because there is already a public lavatory available for shoppers in the town centre.

The new market finally opened a week last Saturday following a two-day delay due to unfinished work.

Norma Wood, of Eton Road, said: 'What sort of planner left out such important facilities? They need to get back to the drawing board and have a rethink.

'I'm disgusted about it and so are a lot more people I've spoken to.

'The current toilets are too far away, especially for the elderly. Then you have to pay 20p to use them. It'll put a lot of people off going to the market, which is dreadful.'

Derek Pretty, of Ellesmere Port, said: 'I spoke to the council about this and was told I can use the public toilets or those in the library or Asda.

'But if I'm in a hurry have I really got time to rush to the library? It's the disabled people I feel sorry for.

'A few of us are thinking of setting up a petition and we hope to get some help from the market traders.'

A borough council spokes-woman said: 'There are no toilets planned for the public inside the market.

'There are already customer toilets adjacent to TJ Hughes and the bus station.'
