Tiverton District Garden Club staged a successful autumn show with 236 high quality entries from 28 competitors in 59 open classes.

Flowers, fruit and vegetables, handicrafts, cookery classes and photography were all particularly well supported, resulting in a colourful display in the Village Hall.

The trophies were awarded as follows:

Catherine Helm - President’s Cup with £5 club prize (most first prizes in show)

Mary Spooner - Challenge Cup for runner-up

Brenda Hunt - Audrey Povall Trophy (best exhibit in roses)

Paul Ellams - Fothergill Trophy (best exhibit in dahlias)

Mary Spooner - Ede Goddard Trophy (best exhibit in flowers general)

Paul Ellams/Chrissie Edghill-Crump (joint winners) - J Lee Trophy (most first prizes in fruit and vegetables)

Chrissie Edghill-Crump - G Howell Memorial Shield (best exhibit in pot plants)

Mary Spooner - Autumn Silver Salver for floral art

Isla Spooner - Junior Cup (best exhibit in junior section)

Joyce Harbottle - Autumn Silver Cup (best exhibit in cookery)

Joyce Harbottle - £5 prize (donated by Mrs S Darlington and daughters) for most first prizes in cookery

Judith Peters - Jean Brown Trophy (best exhibit in photography from Spring and Autumn Shows)

The presentations of the trophies by club president Eric Wright were followed by an auction of the produce, conducted by Paul Ellams, and a raffle, both of which raised funds for the club.
