A RUNCORN fundraiser is preparing to walk the Pennine Way with Jack Russell Tuppence in aid of Halton Haven Hospice.

Steve Sherratt, fundraising administrator at the Haven, and two-year-old Tuppence, will begin their journey on September 16, starting at Edale in Derbyshire.

They hope to complete the 270-mile walk in two weeks, finishing at Kirk Yetholm just over the Scottish border.

Steve, of Hillfield, Norton Cross, said: 'Like many people in this area, I have family and friends who have been grateful for the facilities and services provided by Halton Haven, and as this is our Silver Jubilee year Tuppence and me have decided to contribute a little time and effort - instead of asking other people - to raise some badly needed funds.'

Anyone wishing to sponsor Steve and Tuppence can send a cheque, made payable to Halton Haven Hospice, to Fundraising Department, Halton Haven Hospice, Barnfield Avenue, Runcorn, WA7 6EP or call on 01928 712728.
