Three charities in Chester are among 1,000 around the UK to benefit from Yorkshire Building Society members’ small change.

Capricorn Animal Rescue, Wirral And Chester RDA and Chester Live were among those to be given a £100 donation after being nominated at the Chester branch of Yorkshire Building Society.

The Society’s Charitable Foundation has donated a total of £100,000 to charities and good causes nominated by people during its Small Change Big Difference campaign.

The foundation is funded through a scheme where members donate the pennies from the annual interest on their accounts to help charities and good causes.

Manager of the Chester branch of Yorkshire Building Society Diane Brown said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came into the branch to nominate a charity for a donation during our Small Change Big Difference campaign.

“At Yorkshire Building Society we are committed to our community and I hope these donations will enable the charities to carry on their wonderful work here in Chester.”

As of 2014, the amount donated by the Charitable Foundation in Chester was more than £15,000.
