A CITY centre road could be closed if a sewer is pronounced dang erous.
As The Chronicle went to press last night (Thursday), highways engineers were poised to divert traffic away from Lower Bridge Street.
Welsh Water engineers were due to carry out an assessment after a routine site visit by a Cheshire Highways engineer showed weakness in the sewer between St Olav's Street and Duke Street.
If the sewage network is found to be in danger of collapse, no traffic will be allowed over the road.
Cheshire Highways spokes-woman Shirley Wingfield said: 'If Lower Bridge Street is closed, traffic may be diverted across the Grosvenor Bridge instead of over the Old Dee Bridge.'
