Taste Cheshire has appointed executive chef at Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa Matt Worsick as Chef Ambassador.

Chief Executive Stephen Wundke said. “We are delighted to be working with Matt. He impressed us tremendously with his demonstrations at The Chester Food and Drink festival and he will undoubtedly show everyone just how talented he is on the next series of Great British Menu, where he represents the North West.

“He is one of the up and coming cooking talents within the North and this couldn’t have worked out better.”

Taste Cheshire is the definitive guide to food and drink and brings together members of the Restaurant Association of Cheshire and the small food producers of the county through Made in Cheshire.

It was this amalgamation of the producers and independent food outlets that made Matt keen to represent Taste Cheshire.

He said: “Food is my passion and I’ve been privileged to work in some of the country’s best kitchens. I’m thrilled to be back working across Wirral and Cheshire and have had an incredibly warm reception from food festival-goers, regulars at the hotel and local suppliers too.

“My association with Taste Cheshire gives me the opportunity to really champion fantastic local produce and share my enthusiasm and love of cooking.

“We all have to eat so why not make that as pleasurable as possible by understanding flavours and seasonal produce.

“That’s the journey I want to take people on and with my work at Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa and The Lawns Restaurant and my association with Taste Cheshire, I will be able to do just that. It’s incredibly exciting.”

Stephen added: “Our aim in appointing Matt is to provide our followers with regular recipes that they can cook at home and to show how, with just a little effort, you can integrate local produce in to your daily menu and create great flavours.

“That is Matt’s strength. He already works with a host of local suppliers to create outstanding flavours at Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa’s The Lawns restaurant and all of his food packs a real taste punch.

“Our goal with Taste Cheshire has always been to put both locals and visitors in touch with a real Taste of Cheshire, be that through independent pubs, restaurants and cafes, producers at farmers markets, on line or within some of the great deli’s and farm shops throughout the county. Matt will add the finishing touches to our outstanding portfolio of real people creating great Cheshire tastes.”

The Great British Menu starts in August and Matt Worswick features in the week beginning September 14.
