CHILDREN climbed, clambered and dangled off the third phase of Tilston’s play area which was opened by the Lord Mayor Of Cheshire West and Chester.

The equipment which is on Church Road will enable small children to enjoy playing on the new climbing net which is suspended over a soft rubber area. Older children and teenagers can use the new goal-end for football, netball and basketball and people of all ages will be able to get fit by exercising at our new state-of-the-art green gym.

Lord Mayor Cllr Neil Ritchie and his wife Kathie tested out the green gym equipment for themselves when they declared it officially open.

The facility has been funded by Community Spaces in association with Groundwork UK in partnership with Big Lottery Funding.

The purchase of the field by the community in 2008 enabled the Tilston Playing field committee to bid for the funding needed to provide Tilston and the surrounding area with first class facilities for exercise and play. Coming as it does on top of the completion of the recent Playbuilder Project, Tilston Playing Field now offers a range of outdoor opportunities that caters everyone.

Lord Mayor Cllr Neil Richie said: “The community of Tilston have been determined to provide better play and sporting facilities for the children and young people of the village. Through the hard work of the Playing Field Committee, a great deal of local fundraising and support from the residents, the councils and charitable organisations, this goal is well in sight and we now feel there is a real chance of achieving rewarding and enjoyable recreation to suit the village both for new and many generations to come.”
