Bargain hunters heading to Cheshire Oaks have caused congestion on the M53 for the third day since Christmas.

Tailbacks have built up around the motorway exit for the factory outlet, junction 10, on Tuesday (December 29).

The sheer volume of traffic has also spilled over onto the M56 exit slip road at junction 15 westbound.

Both North West Motorway Police and Cheshire Police have tweeted to warn motorists about the problems.

Drivers are advised to expect delays, use alternative routes if possible and allow extra time for their journey.

Shoppers hit similar queues as they tried to scour the designer sales for the best deals on Boxing Day and December 28.

This may not be the last day of congestion with offers in place at outlets in to the new year while stocks last.
