A REFLEXOLOGIST is appealing for women struggling to have a baby to help her discover the benefits of holistic therapy on fertility.

Mother-of-two Lucie Oakley, 36, of Hawarden, who has been practising reflexology in the Chester area for five years, is searching for women who’ve been trying to conceive for more than six months to become case studies.

“I know through people who’ve dealt with them that fertility issues can be extremely stressful.

“That stress can itself become the problem and reflexology is all about relaxing the body and treating every part of it.

“It’s an holistic approach, so the body is treated and hopefully the techniques involved can help someone become ready to conceive and carry a baby,” said Lucie, who left her job at Bank of America after the birth of her second child.

Reflexology is the act of applying pressure to the feet, hands, or ears with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques.

It is based on what reflexologists claim to be a system of zones on the feet and hands that they say reflect an image of the body.

Fully qualified therapist Lucie who has a treatment room in Vicars Cross is offering the monthly sessions at a reduced price of £18 to encourage women to come forward.

She said: “I’m hoping to go on to study maternity reflexology, which covers everything from getting ready to conceive to pregnancy, labour and post-natal care and would love to work with women in the area.

“It would involve two treatments a month to tie in with the lady’s monthly cycle and go on for no longer than six months.

“It would be wonderful if I could help someone in that situation.”
