Supermarket giant Tesco is recalling batches of a potentially deadly ready-meal over a manufacturing error.
Two batches of their own brand Take Away Butter Chicken curry have been found to contain cashew nuts.
However details of the product's cashew contents have not been printed on a the packaging, meaning that they could prove fatal if eaten by anyone with a nut allergy.
Tesco have blamed the move on a mistake which saw the wrong sauce being used when preparing the meals.
An urgent recall has now been issued on items with a pack size of 385g which have use-by dates of 24/01/2017 and 25/01/2017.
Reactions to cashews can be life-threatening for those who have a nut allergy.
Severe reactions can cause throat swelling and a drop in blood pressure - known as anaphylaxis.
A notice from Tesco said: “If you have bought the products and have an allergy or intolerance to cashew nuts, do not eat it. Instead return it to the nearest Tesco store for a refund (no receipt is required).
“Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice in stores.
“This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product
The retailer added: “Our supplier has identified a manufacturing error. An incorrect sauce has been used in two batches of this product.
“The sauce used contains cashew nuts resulting in incorrect allergen information being displayed on the packaging. Please do not consume this product if affected. Please return the products to store where a full refund will be given.”
A spokesperson for the Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to cashew nuts, do not eat it. Instead return it to the nearest Tesco store for a refund.”
