Two teenagers have been charged with ABH after a victim was attacked with a blade in Neston n the first of two serious incidents in the town on the same day.

Ellesmere Port Police have taken the unusual step of setting out to reassure the residents of Neston by stepping up patrols in the town in the wake of the two separate incidents on Thursday, September 8.

The first incident took place in Shakespeare Avenue early on Thursday morning when a 35-year-old man was attacked and left with minor injuries.

A police investigation resulted in two people being arrest and subsequently charged.

Calvin Lewis, 19, of Bridge Court has been charged with actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Alan Munroe, 18, of Marlowe Road, Neston, faces an ABH charge.

Lewis and Munroe appeared before magistrates on Saturday morning. The pair did not enter pleas.

They will be kept in custody until they are due at Chester Crown Court on October 10.

The second incident took place on the afternoon of the same day when a teenage boy was stabbed in the back.

The 16-year-old boy was wounded in nearby Tannery Lane later on Thursday afternoon. He was airlifted to hospital but thankfully his injuries were not as serious as at first thought and he was eventually released from hospital.

A youth, also aged 16, from the Upton area of Wirral, was arrested and released on police bail until October 21.

Extra police patrols were put in place to ‘reassure the community’ of Neston following the two assaults..

Ellesmere Port LPU chief inspector Sarah Pengelly said: “Public safety is paramount, so this type of violence is obviously something that concerns us.

“I want to stress this is not normal for Neston, and we have committed significant numbers to providing a more visible presence in the community, which I hope will offer some reassurance.

“Of course, we rely heavily on members of the public giving us the vital information we need to solve these investigations, and I’d urge anyone who can help to contact us on 101.”
