ELDERLY residents danced away the afternoon to a string of golden oldies during an event in aid of a campaign to stamp out abuse of vulnerable people.

About 50 residents from Ferndale Court care home and Victoria Court sheltered accommodation were guests at a tea dance which raised more than £100 for Action Against Elder Abuse.

The owners of St Michael's Parish Club invited the home to use their premises for the fun occasion, which included tea and cakes for everyone.

It was attended by Halton's Mayor, John Swain, who has been supporting the campaign this year.

Laura Ryan, activities co-ordinator at Ferndale, said: 'The team at Ferndale Court worked hard in co-ordinating this event and organising an enjoyable afternoon for everyone.'
