A CAMPAIGN to stamp out domestic abuse in Halton is to take a step forward with the launch of a taxi emblazoned with a campaign logo and a hotline number.
The unveiling of the taxi promoting Halton's 24 hour domestic abuse support service was scheduled to take place several weeks ago but suffered a setback after the vehicle was involved in a collision.
Now a new taxi bearing the essential helpline number is to be launched on August 31, and will operate alongside a similar taxi in Runcorn, meaning the message is being spread on both sides of the river.
The campaign taxi will be operating for the next 12 months.
Sally Clarke, Halton's domestic abuse co-ordinator, said: 'This 24-hour support service is exclusive to people in Halton and we are lucky to be able to offer such an excellent facility to people who need it.'
People who know someone suffering from domestic violence are urged to contact the 24 hour helpline 0800 783 9636.
