PARISH councillors are supportive of the plans to build up to 120 homes in Tarvin.

Members met on Monday night to discuss the proposal by Taylor Wimpey for a housing development on land off Tarporley Road.

The council will now forward their views to the developer prior to them submitting an outline planning application to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Members accept there is a shortage of homes in rural areas and are keen for young and older people, as well as families, to have a realistic chance of staying in the village.

They have no objections in principle to development on the site but believe it should be expanded to include the triangle of land running along the A51 with banking created to act as a sound barrier.

Within this area members would like to see a footpath and bridleway created, with the latter fenced on both sides for safety and not accessible by horse or vehicle.

A footpath linking to Tarvin Community Woodland should also be created along this boundary, they said.

Councillors will ask developers to give ‘serious consideration’ to building a BMX track and skate area too.

They do not want to see four or five bedroom properties as the major feature of the scheme, but rather two or three bedroom homes suitable for single people, couples with young children and older residents.
