TARPORLEY Rotary Club visited Bunbury to raise awareness of high blood pressure and the way it can increase the likelihood of a stroke.

Following on from a number of previous successful events in Tarporley, the club set up shop to provide the same service in Bunbury.

Co-op managers April Bosworth and Robert Proctor gave permission for Rotary to set up their mobile clinic on their car park.

Throughout the morning there was a steady stream of villagers attending the shop who then stopped off to also have their blood pressure checked.

The club tested 40 people and villagers showed their support by also donating £43 to The Stroke Association.

Rotarian and Bunbury resident Dick Powell said: “We were really pleased that so many people came. We are really grateful to the nurses from the community nurse service and Linda Ward from the O’Callaghan practice for freely giving their time to help us today.”

David Carter from Rotary said: “Blood pressure awareness sessions are run by Rotary Clubs around the country in May and June.

“This year we wanted to offer the service wider and to raise our visibility beyond Tarporley into the smaller villages like Bunbury.”
