A MAN has been accused of using fake passports and utility bills to secure a £1.5m loan.

Shane Martin, 50, of Hillview in Cotebrook, Tarporley, has been charged with committing fraud by making false representation to London-based bridging finance firm Masthaven Ltd on or before April 13, this year.

He is accused of conspiring with Ahmed Ali, Shakil Ahmed and Ahmed Onmar with the intention to make a gain of £1.5m.

Martin was arrested at his home on Tuesday by Cheshire police who were helping the City of London Police. He appeared at Chester Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday) where it was ruled that the matter would be sent to Chester Crown Court on June 14.

The case will then be directed to London where Martin will appear with the co-accused.

Martin was remanded in custody and a bail application is expected to be made this week.
