Energetic children hit the ground running to make the first inter-schools cross country event of their term a success in Tarporley.

Pupils in Years 1 and 2 at Delamere Academy and Oak View Academy were part of a number of exciting races at Tarporley High School on Thursday, October 6.

They went up against fellow primary school children from Eaton, Kelsall, Tarvin, Duddon St Peter’s, Bunbury Aldersey, Huxley, Utkinton and Tarporley.

The young children were encouraged around the course by Year 7 pupils from Tarporley High School.

PE coordinator at Delamere Academy Tom Freeman said: “It was a fantastic event as it allowed all children to enjoy representing their school in a competition.

“They were really excited about it and it was a great way to build their confidence in a new environment, challenge themselves and teach them humility in handling success or disappointment.”
