Tarporley and District U3A held their annual showcase event on Tuesday, December 8 in Tarporley Community Centre.

The event was attended by about 150 people.

All of the various interest groups in the club were represented and gave displays and presentations of digital photography, Singing For Fun, make up and many crafts.

Seventy enquiries for new membership

Publicity manager David Carter said: “It was a really lively event, which showed the many visitors what an active organisation U3A is. We have already got more than 250 members and there were about 70 enquiries for new members and membership of the interest groups.

“Our recent trips out such as the one to the Christmas concert at The Bridgewater Hall are gaining a great reputation among retired people in the village.”

During the morning, The Singing For Fun group presented a short session of three Christmas songs, while the digital photography group gave a continuous rolling presentation of photographs taken by members and others to show just what can be done by anyone with a camera.

The ‘Looking Gorgeous’ group did a before and after makeover on member Margaret Clayton, proving that age is not a barrier for all of us to make more of our appearance.
