A DROP-IN surgery in Ellesmere Port offering people independent, confidential advice on welfare benefits has found a new home.
The free service is currently based in the Civic Way offices of the borough council, but is moving to the Links Healthy Living Centre on the Civic Square from Wednesday, January 10.
The surgery will stick to its regular time of 10am to 1pm.
The council provides the surgeries to ensure people receive benefits they are entitled to.
Benefits advisor Karen Linford helps people complete benefit application forms and make appeals, and advises on the full range of benefits available, including housing and council tax benefits, attendance allowance, disability living allowance, pension credit, tax credits and other social security benefits.
Karen said: 'The benefits system can be a maze to people who don't know what's available.
'For example, customers are not always aware of carers allowance or of how they might qualify for it. Some carers may be entitled to carers allowance without receiving payment - they may be entitled to an underlying entitlement only.
'This can either increase the amount of other benefits already received or mean they can receive other benefits.'
Sessions are also held in Neston Town Hall on Mondays from 10am to 1pm and Fridays from 9am to 11am.
Both surgeries have private rooms for complete confidentiality and have disabled access. Home visits can also be arranged to help elderly or disabled people complete applications or for general advice.
