Members of the City of Chester Swimming Club have won medals in competitions in Liverpool and Manchester.

The young took part in the North West Regional Summer Championships held over three weekends at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre and Manchester Aquatics.

The Chester squad comprised Lauren Goodfellow and Kyle Stubbs 18, Will Brown 17, 15-year-olds Georgia Williams, Holly Parkinson, Phoebe Joseph, Sophie Clarkson, Isabel Gelder and Thomas Rowlands; Millie Riddick and Connor Hone both 14, India Nellist 13, 12-year-olds Tara Das-Gupta and Hatty Bird and Eleanor Gill and Frankie Docking-Smith, both 11.

The first weekend saw the older swimmers in action, taking part in a full range of events and relays.

Georgia won silver in the 400m Individual Medley and bronze in the 400m freestyle. She made the 200m butterfly final and also competed in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly events.

Holly made the finals in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, taking silver medal in the 200m event. She also competed in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.

Holly’s time in the 200m backstroke final and Will’s time in the 50m breaststroke sealed their places in the ASA English National Championships.

Connor made the final of the 200m butterfly and also took part in 400m and 1500m freestyle.

The final weekend returned to Manchester and Frankie made the final of the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, claiming the silver medal and bronze medals respectively. He also made the final in 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m and 200m freestyle.

Chief coach Mike Price and junior coach Rhiannon Henry were very pleased with all the swimmers performances, stating: “We had more swimmers qualifying this year than in previous years and it was great to see their hard work in training paying off, making finals and winning medals.”
