A sixth form college in Northwich has recognised the achievements of its upper sixth form students in an annual celebration.

The evening, at Sir John Deane’s College featured 87 student award winners, as well as speeches and performances by other students.

Principal Kerry Kirkwood said: “We are celebrating the tremendous breadth and range of student achievement and recognise those individuals who have become role models and heroes.

“The evening is also an opportunity to thank parents, families and friends, whose love, faith and support underpins the success and achievements of all the winners.”

Chairman of governors Trevor Rawling welcomed guests to the evening and student Laura Edwards gave a performance of Panis Angelicus, followed by speeches from Ms Kirkwood and head boy George O’Brien.

Following the awards ceremony, the guest speaker was former student Thomas Girdham, who is now head of sales, strategy and planning and delivery at Burton’s Biscuits.
