ART students were the centre of attention as they donned hand decorated sandwich boards and canvases to raise money for a once in a lifetime exhibition.

Third years from the University of Chester decided to bring their cause to the city streets – and walls – by organising a sponsored walk in aid of their self-funded degree show.

The exhibition, titled Between Pictures, will be held in the summer at NOVAS in Liverpool, but only if they reach their £4,000 target.

Greg Colgin, one of the event’s organisers, said: “The exhibition is what my three years at uni have been leading up to and gives us the opportunity to be noticed and appreciated as artists and seen by people who wouldn’t necessarily be aware of what we’re doing.”

He added that, following the success of a fundraising gig at Telford’s Warehouse, which raised more than £500, they had been approached by local businesses like the Frog and Nightingale to discuss similar events.

The students will also be holding a fete on December 9, complete with Santa’s grotto, games and a raffle.
