COMEDIAN Ricky Tomlinson and footballer Jamie Carragher were among the stars who turned out for a launch party to celebrate the opening of a new Chester law firm.

About 125 people attended the event last week at the Hilton Double Tree to mark the arrival of Manleys Solicitors in St John Street.

Managing director Mark Manley, who has also opened a branch in Oxford Street in London, boasts a client base of footballers, celebrities, TV and radio stations and commercial businesses.

Mr Manley, who lives in Chester, said: “I was overwhelmed to see such a fantastic turnout from so many very loyal and valued clients.

“We have created a law firm which is very much results orientated.

“I believe what we offer is fresh, different and we are already working on very substantial cases.

“It was a great night with a real buzz and everyone seemed to enjoy it.”

Mr Manley, who was formerly media law partner at North West corporate and commercial law firm Brabners Chaffe Street in Liverpool, has a team of ten lawyers with more than 20 years commercial and litigation experience, and others who are former journalists.

Among the high-profile cases the firm is currently dealing with is the claim by ex-Big Brother winner Brian Belo against Manley clients Lime Pictures and ITV concerning the show The Only Way is Essex.

Speaking about setting up his firm’s headquarters in Chester, Mr Manley said: “I’ve lived in Chester for nearly 25 years. I love the city. Cheshire is home to many of our clients.

“I wanted a new challenge and I’m delighted with it.”
