Capes, masks and an array of special powers transformed St Martin's Academy pupils into super hero fundraisers for the day.

The children were asked  to come dressed as their favourite heroes for a day of Pudsey-inspired fun and rose to the challenge in magnificent style.

Superman, Wonder Woman and Bat Girl were joined by a vet, doctors, police officers and two Florence Nightingale.

Reception class teacher Emma Boynton said: "The children have been exploring the idea of heroes that exist within their own community and have so far been visited by a dentist and a surgeon and are looking forward to meeting a paramedic and a fire fighter in the coming weeks, as well as welcoming the Lord Mayor later this month."

Donations for Children In Need were taken in the morning before the pupils took part in a day of super hero challenges and fun activities.
