POLICE are appealing for vigilance after a spate of distraction thefts from cars in supermarket car parks.

Shoppers at Sainsbury’s stores in Great Boughton and Cheshire Oaks and Aldi in Northwich have all fallen victim to the crime since November 3 and the police are linking the incidents.

Two men, described as Eastern European, have approached lone females in the car parks as they approach or enter their cars.

One offender has distracted the victim by asking for directions while the second steals from the car, with items stolen including bankcards and cash.

The offenders made off from the scene in a silver or dark coloured maroon car.

Anyone with any information or who witnessed any of these incidents are asked to contact the Vehicle Crime Unit at Ellesmere Port on 0845 458 0000.
