A grand opening for a Spar shop relaunch in Blacon has been postponed.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was due to make a special appearance at The West Parade store on August 25.
Problems getting the supermarket online are the reason behind the delay as the tills cannot work without a broadband connection.
Flyers had been handed out inviting guests down to the event, which was due to run from 11am to 3pm.
The Anfield legend, now a television pundit, was not the only attraction for the day.
Spar were also promising a bouncy castle, food samplings and competitions.
The store has been given a major modern revamp as part of the upgrade, but customers will have to wait a little longer.
It is hoped the internet issues will be solved this weekend, and the shop can open soon after.
