ST OSWALD’S Church in Malpas resounded with the sound of children’s voices singing in a concert that was held in aid of Hope House Children’s Hospice, in memory of Fergus Hunter.

Fergus was a brave boy, a pupil at Bickerton School, who sadly lost his life in November 2010.

Stewart Smith, director of music at St Oswald’s and his wife, Joanne, organised a concert involving more than 160 children from seven local primary schools together with Malpas Youth Choir.

The schools that performed were The White House School, Whitchurch, Bickerton School, Malpas Alport School, Shocklach School, Tilston School, Bronington School and Tushingham School.

Each school choir performed a variety of items including songs and solo instrumental pieces.

The children were supported by their parents and friends and the church was full to standing.

Thanks to the generosity of the audience more than £600 was raised to support the work of Hope House.
