SOLAR panels were proposed adjacent to a swimming pool at a substantial period detached property.

The application was made by Alastair Stoddart at The Old Rectory, High Street, Tarporley.

Mr Stoddart told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council he was seeking approval for a bank of 16 panels which would be screened by the house and outbuildings.

The property, on the edge of open countryside, has substantial gardens which are well wooded and screened from neighbours. It is in the Tarporley Conservation Area, according to a report.

No objections were raised by Tarporley Parish Council or by nearby residents.

Describing the panels as ‘sizeable’, planners pointed out they would be in an enclosed space, close to the main house and would not be visible from outside the property.

Mr Stoddart had considered using the roof but due to its complex nature and character this was not felt to be practical or desirable.

The borough council agreed the solar panels could be agreed.
