A special showing of festive favourite The Snowman at Chester Cathedral was so successful that plans are already in place for next year’s event.

An impressive 850 people turned out to the three showings of the classic Christmas movie, which also featured unique solo performances of Walking in the Air from cathedral choristers Louisa Cowell and Ruby Hart.

Chester Cathedral's Snowman performance also featured a Festive Guide to the Orchestra

Also featured in the concert was a Festive Guide to the Orchestra, which presented the instruments in a fun way, and offering the valuable experience of seeing and hearing the instruments individually, as well as a never-before-seen animation to accompany Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.

A cathedral spokesperson said: “Only two tickets were not collected over all three performances. LEGO got a tremendous boosts as did the Christmas tree festival and the company has booked already for 2016. We had people coming to the door and the phone ringing off the hook for more tickets!”
