A SCHEDULED ancient monument and roads through a village have smart new signs.

The signs, at Robin Hood's Tump in Alpraham and in Bunbury, have been made available through a Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council scheme which provides a grant of £1 per household in parishes.

Ward councillor Brian Dykes (Con, Bunbury) said he is delighted the money has been able to contribute to the cost of the signs.

At the historic monument, on Vale Road in Alpraham, the signs show the name of the burial mound, which is thought to date back to at least 800BC, and warn people they face prosecution if they injure or deface it.
