Children at a Chester primary school took on the Bard for their end of year play to prove that Shakespeare Rocks.

Belgrave juniors put on an innovative performance of an adaptation of the Bard’s exclusive personal diary bought for a fiver on ebay!

Belgrave Primary School in Westminster Park looks for a play each year that will showcase the talents of the Year 6 pupils before they leave for high school and one which has parts for students in Years 3, 4 and 5.

As this year is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, it was agreed this would be perfect.

Year 6 teacher Tim Clifton made some excellent adaptations to the script and included a scene from Henry V.

The set was created by Alli Hancock, supported by staff, with the school’s original wooden PE equipment, installed in 1968, providing the framework for hanging the vast Tudor backdrop.
