Police are appealing for information after a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Chester on Wednesday night (April 27).

The victim was walking behind Telford's Warehouse along Raymond Street at around 10.15pm when a man approached her from behind and grabbed hold of her.

She managed to fight him off and he fled the scene.

The offender is described as approximately 5’7’’ tall, of slim build with a round face.

He was wearing a dark blue puffer jacket, a woollen beanie hat and dark-coloured denim jeans.

Public information 'vital'

Investigating officer PC Danielle Knox said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.

"Information from the public is vital and I, as part of my enquiries, am keen to speak to anyone who believes that they may have any information that could assist our investigation.

“I’m particularly keen on speaking to anyone who believes that they may have seen the offender travelling through Chester city centre before the incident occurred.

“The offender is believed to have walked through the Hoole Bridge, Delamere Street and Canal Street areas of Chester prior to committing the offence on Raymond Street, meaning that he would have been seen by a large number of people on a busy Wednesday night."

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 168 of April 27.
