A man has been arrested following allegations of a serious sexual assault on a 34-year-old woman in a portable toilet in Chester city centre during the early hours of this morning (Sunday, March 13).

Officers have been present all morning at a taped off area on the corner of Frodsham Street and Foregate Street outside the Chester branch of RBS.

A 27-year-old man is now in police custody after being arrested in connection with the incident.

The following statement has been issued today by Chester CID: “Police are currently investigating a serious sexual assault in Chester. The incident is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday in one of the portable toilets in Foregate Street. Officers are currently at the scene and inquiries are ongoing.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The victim, a 34-year-old woman, is currently receiving support from specially trained officers.”
