One person ended up in hospital following a serious assault at Chester Races last Friday evening (June 24).

Police were called to the Members Bar at the Roodee just after 9pm, following reports of an altercation between three men.

The victim was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital following the incident and a 51-year-old man was arrested and later charged with assault by beating.

A Cheshire police spokesperson confirmed the assault had taken place and said the defendant is due to appear at West Cheshire Magistrates Court on July 13.
