A serious accident which blocked all southbound lanes of the M53 at Ellesmere Port has now been cleared.
Queuing traffic was reported shortly after 9am today (Sunday, September 18) between junction nine at Ellesmere Port and junction 10 at Little Stanney with congestion going back to junction eight at Ellesmere Port Docks.
All southbound lanes were blocked, affecting traffic coming from Wirral into Chester.
Cheshire Police and Highways England traffic officers were at the scene.
No details were released of how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was injured.
The incident was reported as clearing at 10.06am.
