SCHOOLS across west Cheshire are invited to enter the annual Schools in Bloom competition to produce colourful flowers and vegetables to eat.
Organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council and sponsored by Essar Oil (UK) Ltd, the competition is open to all schools to plant and nurture a green space– no matter how large or small.
Entries can range from flower gardens and vegetable plots to bedding plant displays and hanging baskets and participating schools will compete for prizes to be invested in future environmental projects.
Winners will be honoured at a special awards ceremony to be held at Ness Gardens in Neston, later in the year.
Cllr Eleanor Johnson, who will visit the schools involved to decide who will receive the prizes, said: “We have seen an increase in schools that enter each year this competition is run, which is very pleasing, and I would like to see even more schools enter this year’s competition.”
