Saughall Colts under 7s held their first awards ceremony to celebrate a superb inaugural campaign for the club.

In their first competitive season as a team, Saughall lost just one game, winning 18 and drawing three to cap a season of success.

Held at the Greyhound pub in Saughall, the presentation evening saw each player presented with an individual trophy to recognise their contributions, while other awards were also handed out to members of the team.

The manager’s player of the season award went to Joseph O’Neill, six, from Great Sutton, while the most improved player accolade went to seven-year-old George Caley, from Saughall.

Players’ player of the year went to Finlay Ehlen, seven, from Ellesmere Port. He proved prolific in front of goal, netting a stunning 76 goals during the course of the campaign.

The commitment award went to seven-year-old goalkeeper Noah Thompson, from Mollington, while the awards were rounded off by Finley Collins, seven, from Great Sutton, scooping the clubman of the year prize.
