FOUR dancers studying musical theatre at West Cheshire College have successfully auditioned for jobs abroad.

Sarah Cartwright, 17, from Great Sutton, will be jetting off to Madeira to join fellow students Emma Thompson, 17, from Warrington, and Fay Martin, 19, from Widnes, in a seven-month hotel tour.

Sarah, who started dancing as a youngster, has been studying musical theatre at the college for the past two years.

She was put forward for the position after the production company approached the college, asking them to recom-mend dancers.

Sarah will jet off to Fuchal in the centre of Madeira to take part in the shows, travelling to different hotels every night.

Sarah said: 'I'm really excited but a bit nervous about being thrown in at the deep end.

'It's something I've always wanted to do though and I'm really looking forward to the Friday night dances at a casino - it should be really glamorous!' Musical theatre course leader Sharon Brown said: 'We sent the girls to the auditions for them to get a bit of experience but they all got the jobs they went for.

'They started this course with little training, so to have got this far is a great achievement.' Students Sophie Wearing, 18, and Emma Rutter, 17, from Warrington, were also successful in auditions held in Manchester.

Sophie is to head off to Corfu later this month while Emma has decided to wait for an opportunity on cruise ships.

Auditions for the BTEC national diploma in performing arts (musical theatre) will be held on Monday, April 11 at 10am. For more details, ring Angela Pleavin on 01244 670417.
