A NEW range of ‘healthy’ underwear has got horse riders jumping for joy.
Cheshire-based entrepreneur Sara Branch has been overwhelmed since she introduced the lab-tested underwear collection to her range of riding outfits. The Purelime sports underwear is proving a hit with women riders.
Horse riding is a high impact sport, and even if you have a smaller breast size, it is important that the ligaments are supported otherwise long term damage can be caused.
Sara, who runs specialised riding wear business Cool Equestrian from her home near Cholmondeley, says the new health conscious underwear was developed after clinical trials revealed the damaging effect riding was having on women’s bodies.
She said: “During riding the ligaments which support women’s breasts are stretched, irrespective of bust size. Ligaments never go back into their original position and that leads to changes in the body shape which can cause pain.
“Cool Equestrian launched at the National Dressage Championships at Stoneleigh and we were absolutely amazed by the interest in the bras and underwear.
“The demand for having a correctly fitting riding bra is amazing. Some people said they ride their horses wearing two bras, just to try and get some support. I truly believe these bras will make a difference to riders.”
Sara, herself a dressage rider, set up her mail order and on-line business last month with support from Rural Enterprise.
